I took the photos in my back yard on April 27 and May 3. Thunderstorms during the past few days have left but a few ragged flowers on the lilac, azalea and tulips featured below. My perennial summer flowers--day lily, climbing clematis, iris, yucca--should be blooming next month.
I planted the bulbs last fall
The neighbor's lovely azalea grows through my chain-link fence
The lilac bloomed beautifully this year

I especially love the close-ups. Vivid, stunning images!

(38,085 posts)Maybe its my imagination, but my flowering trees and shrubs seem to bloom earlier than before. In years gone by, I always had fragrant crabapple blossoms to enjoy on Mothers Day - This year and last they popped out in late April and lasted about three days, then were cleaned away by the wind.
Your photos are just lovely.
