Purple was my grandmother’s favorite color and she was quite a gardener, both veggies and flowers. She always had a big bunch of irises in her garden that were so beautiful and I am always reminded of her when I see them.

Back in my mother’s day they used to call them “flags”. I think it was because they were always in bloom by Memorial Day.
