The windows after:
These are west-facing windows, and in the late afternoon, the sun is brutal. Plus we have no privacy.

(154,856 posts)I'd cleaned it off, plus had removed all my art objects out of the window sill, so that the installer would have a clear field to work in!
I don't like clutter so I make an effort.

(154,856 posts)I'm counting on them doing just that! The sun is ferocious when it hits those windows.

(1,528 posts)I love them. Many of mine were the ones that open from either/or the top and bottom. I suspect you may not be as likely to fry food as I do, and my stove is in front of the window, but, I didn't put them in my kitchen bc I was afraid of the grease mixed with dust and an occasional dog hair. 😳 But they are just perfect and so easy to replace if they break.

(154,856 posts)We have them elsewhere too. I love the soft, diffuse light. And the privacy!
My cooktop is on an inside wall, nowhere near that window, as you can see. I do have these blinds at the other end of the kitchen for privacy and sun control. They are very good for those purposes.

(154,856 posts)They really are all that! Plus they match the coverings in the rest of the kitchen.

(38,098 posts)I used to have a west facing window over my kitchen sink and I know how brutal (and hot) it can be working there in the late afternoon. These look perfect!

(154,856 posts)I think they will help a lot, esp. with the sun. I used to hate being in that space when the sun was setting. I kept having to duck and keep away from the glare!
