(9,514 posts)Beautiful late May day. And the Federal Court of International Trade has blocked the Tariffs! Moments like these are few these days. Enjoy them.

(8,887 posts)And it's okay. I've told I'm over the hill but the hill just keeps on rising and I keep on keeping on.
Y'now There are lots more Shadow photos in DU. I'd be happy to tell you to access them.

Youve got a long walk to get your mail!

(8,887 posts)I am glad you love Shadow's shadow pic. I clicked out four or five at once and fortunately this one came out good. Thank You!!

(126,288 posts)to check the mail can bring moments of beauty and joy.
George McGovern
(8,887 posts)And for Puppy! When I ask if she wants to check the mail her ears perk up and outside she heads right for her Jolly Ball, wraps her teeth around the handle (this is her 3rd, she chewed the handles off) and we start up the driveway. I'm so glad you came along with us after the proverbial fact.

(57,856 posts)drive, which is about a quarter of a mile from the house to a gravel road, to check their mail. Unless the weather's bad, or he's in a hurry.

(57,856 posts)Btw, I've never used the name highplainsdrifter here, have been highplainsdem since 2004. But I just checked and saw someone did register as HighPlainsdrifter back in 2010, but never posted.
George McGovern
(8,887 posts)probably to hpdrifter, so you probably didn't get it. I'll see if I can retrieve it somehow. If not we'll do a "rewrite."
highplainsdem
(57,856 posts)someone's mail, or clicking on their name in your Inbox or Sent mail or on a board message - which shows you their profile - and then clicking the Send DU Mail link there.
I don't think you can just send mail to someone by typing in a name. Unless you type a name into Member Lookup under My DU and search for a name there. And if you did that with highplainsdrifter, you'd see that profile page showing no avatar and no posts.
So I don't think you could have misdirected mail.

(27,077 posts)and it's nice to have a companion on your walk. I suspect Shadow keeps you on your toes!
My father had Parkinson's for about 20 years. During his last years our dog was his constant companion. We were grateful that she always walked with him because we knew if he fell, she would alert us. She was a funny dog who also kept him laughing.

(8,887 posts)I always walk with my cane to check the mail, because checking the mail entails playing Jolly Ball. Last week we doing that in the backyard. My cane was left leaning against the horse
trailer I didn't want it to slow me down. I went to give the JB a strong kick, lost my balance and as we used to say, went "head over tea-kettles".
I was but a couple feet from the trailer's rear end and crawled to it to get back up. It was okay. Shadow never even took notice. Like to think I learn from mistakes . . .

(7,879 posts)Or just looking at the very good hole that somebody else dug?
The scenery reminds me of my grandparent's old farm in WV. Pretty Irises they haven' t bloomed here yet.
George McGovern
(8,887 posts)I am glad you are reminded of West Virginia Figarosmom. Thanks for your kind comment. Laurie's irises are on their own and doing nicely.

(1,176 posts)The terrier part explains the digging. Great dog.
George McGovern
(8,887 posts)She does love to dig, I'm pretty sure, for field mice.
Shadow was born in a litter of ten found left alone in a barn by a pet rescue organization. She came with us just a few weeks old and we've been in love with her for the last eight years.
Thanks for asking boonecreek!

(8,887 posts)"dog's life" includes a lot of downtime, sleeping or just lying down staring into space. She is, however,
ever-ready to follow us outside. She loves, as you've seen, to go check the mail, or "help" Mommy with barn chores. Thanks!
