(27,008 posts)to contemplate leaving such a peaceful beautiful place. Life sometimes calls on us to downshift and reduce our labors even though we love the fruit of our work.

(7,835 posts)Our downshift began about a year ago when I was diagnosed with Parkinson's.
Since then Laurie has been shouldering the entire burden of barn chores, pasture maintenance, large lawn mowing, house upkeep, etc. And she is plum worn out; so
we concluded it was time to downsize and move on.
We've been blessed in this good place for 23 years. We are both 73. Providentially, we
found a new home three hours east of here and much closer to our son and daughter
and her recently graduated daughter. Moreover, the buyers of this farm are a much
younger mom and dad and their two younger yet boys with their cowboy boots and
hats: one white and one black. They are bringing their two ponies for the boys and
two horses for mom and dad. All four are looking very much forward to living here.
The proceeding also realizes the transfer of our stewardship to the new owners. That
pleases me to no end.
Thank You!
