(3,684 posts)with different color inflorescences. They do well in zone 9b and south, although if the tops freeze they might not flower the next year. Also they may struggle in the 7 months of drought which can occur in South Florida, especially if the soil is pure sand. The inflorescence makes a long lasting cut flower, although it has no fragrance. Shampoo ginger is a relative which produces a liquid used in shampoos.

Something I would try: getting up close. A macro shot or something similar. The way the honeycomb twists around draws my eye.
I've been using f4 to get that sort of effect, and it's fascinating to see how things turn out. And that's with my 12--45 mm lens, just my walking-around lens.
