Dear fellow photography-lovers, your brother raised some cane yesterday and today. Here's what happened . . .

Laurie and I arrived for my second appointment at a local family care center yesterday morning. The previous appointment was on July 9th 2025, on which day the center's
ADA front door was "OUT OF ORDER". Eh, no prob. Laurie let me in.

When we returned yesterday the door was not fixed. Still.

As I stepped forward and reached for the normal door something inside of me popped and I gained momentum heading straight toward the reception desk. Half hobbling half charging. Adrenalin fueled. Not thinking moving to the mood. Angry. Impatient.
Pissed Off.

And starting to speak in not my quiet voice I asked to speak to the manager. Receptionist asked why. And my rant began.

Cannot recall exact words, but their intensity and volume did the trick and the clinic manager exited his office. Asked what he could do for me. So I told him. Told him this
was my second visit to his, HIS, care center and that its front door was broken the first time AND was STILL NOT WORKING.

The rest is a blur. Please suffice to say the reception area went silent. It was like a standoff. OK Corral with words. To his credit the guy in charge maintained his stoic
face and, whether he was or not, spoke calmly but firmly to me. Something about they
couldn't get the part ala YaddaYaddaYadda etc.

I was not calm. I was not appeased. By the time he had entered reception space I had come up to the counter and stayed there until we reached an area of agreement. (He,
by the way, stood managerially behind a desk, maintaining, I suppose, an air of
authority yet safe and sound from the evident loony upsetting the peace and
quietude of his office.)

Resolved: I would keep my appointment and send him an email which he would forward to his boss. No longer addressing the boss, I turned abruptly and sat down next to my wife awaiting the call to come back and see the doc.

The interim was wisely invested settling down, reading my Kindle, asking Laurie somewhat sheepishly had I made a fool of myself. I think she said I had not. But
I wasn't sure; only that regrets were nil.

We had a good appointment, checking on the progress of my Parkinson's, confirming med refills and such. The kind and gentle PAC calmed me further, no words of my
exposition exchanged. (He'd not have heard anyways, back in the back of the center.

Laurie and I left for some "erranding". It was a nice day in town windows down. The morning's confrontation stashed in a closet, back of my mind for the time being. After lunch I googled ADA complaint and settled on making a report to the Better Business Bureau. And composed a terse email to said family care center manager, in which I advised that I had contacted the BBB.

From whom I heard this afternoon.
"Hi Allan Herzig,

Thank you for contacting Better Business Bureau. This message is in regard to your complaint submitted on 8/21/2025 against Deer Park Family Care Clinic.  Your complaint was assigned ID XXXXXXXX.

We've sent your complaint to the business so they can respond. Once they've provided a response to BBB, we'll contact you again to let you know. In the meantime, please let us know in writing if the complaint is resolved. Also, please keep in mind that any future correspondence you send to us will also be shared with the business."

Oh, and one more thing. On our way out of the clinic I envisioned a photograph and asked Laurie to bring my camera from the car. I wanted to make a physical statement, and
attach a copy to the manager's email.

If you don’t get a satisfactory answer, perhaps you could put in a call to the kind PA. I bet he would care his patients who are already struggling now must struggle with the door not being fixed in at least 6 weeks. Who knows how long before your last appointment it actually stopped working.

back in the back of the clinic. Nevertheless, I believe he'd want to know what's happening. Shoot, I've never been any kind of instigator; maybe, that is, until now. Thank You.

I hope you shook up some complacent pencil pushers and that door will be all fixed next time. Letting it go for that long is disgraceful!

It has been my experience that calling the BBB gets results fast.

so soon. Like I commented to MLAA I've never been an instigator until, maybe, now.
