Perspective

Jennifer Ladd ... watched as a turbulent sky morphed over the process of a few hours in the strong winds above Longmont, Colorado...

...‘I live in New England,’ said Jennifer, ‘so it lifted my spirits to be out beneath this huge sky and such powerful, roiling clouds.’

I chose George McGovern for my username because I voted wholeheartedly for him in 1972. Broke my heart when he lost. I consider Mr. McGovern the greatest president who never was.

My college classmates and I went up to NH to campaign for him prior to the Dem primary. IIRC, he got 37% of the vote, establishing him as a legit candidate. And the rest is history (including his VP choice, Thomas Eagleton, stepping aside when it was revealed that he had hidden his "shameful" past about being treated for depression; the campaign never regained its momentum).

A nice bit of irony: my current Congressman is Jim McGovern (D-MA), and he lives up to his last name (no relation).

That is real nice that your Congressman carries on the fight.

Eagleton was an alum of my college (Amherst), and he came back the next Spring to give a talk. He was treated to a reception befitting a returning hero, though I (and others) were not quite ready to forgive him for his deception. I still think McGovern would have made a much bigger splash if his campaign didn't have to restart with Shriver as VP; it would've amounted to more than just "Don't blame me, I'm from Massachusetts".

It was a different era then....

And the cloud appreciation site is an awesome resource. I’m thinking of sending a gift membership for my son to share the magic of clouds with my young grandson!
