ICYMI: AI for Good? The Case Against AI Doomerism

From the rise of chatbots to the White House and its push for automated warfare, artificial intelligence is increasingly pervasive in our lives. Without adequate regulation, AI's possible impact is feared by many -- including Pope Leo, who has teamed up with Anthropic to issue a document highlighting the need to protect jobs and truth amid the AI boom. Roman Yampolskiy is a doomer. He has a doctorate in computer science, he's not a crank. Here's his wikipedia entry. His belief is that humans can't wrap their heads around a super intelligence. He makes his argument on this video which runs for a little over an hour - the first 1:15 is an intro and an ad - then the actual argument.
