Ballot boxes now open for DC's Ward 8 Council Special Election

WASHINGTON, D.C. (7News) — D.C. Board of Elections is now collecting votes for the Special Election to fill the vacant Ward 8 seat on the D.C. Council.

The position became open after Trayon White was expelled twice on federal bribery charges. White is running for re-election again against three other Democratic candidates: Salim Adofo, Mike Austin, and Sheila Bunn.

There are also six candidates campaigning as write-ins, which include two Democrats, two Republicans, and two independents.

Voters can submit their mail-in ballots until July 15 at 8:00 p.m. All active registered voters will receive a ballot by mail. D.C. voters who anticipate being away from home during the election must request a Mail-In Ballot.
