NC DOT: NC 12 REMAINS CLOSED
NC12 remains CLOSED between the Marc Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe, and also remains CLOSED on the north end of Ocracoke Island between the Pony Pens and the ferry terminal. Elsewhere, the higway is open and passable, but expect sand and water on the highway in several spots, so drive with extreme caution. There is also major ocean overwash on secondary roads in Avon and Rodanthe.
Our crews will be out working to clear the road in advance of the 1:40 p.m. afternoon high tide. Please give them room to work.
There is no specific time line for the reopening.
