Democrats, Republicans strike deal on North Carolina voter rolls

Democrats and Republicans have agreed to allow more than 73,000 voters in North Carolina whose registration is incomplete to remain on the state’s voter roll for upcoming elections, according to a settlement.

The agreement, signed Monday by the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC), still needs final approval from a federal judge.

The RNC will drop its challenge to North Carolina’s voter registration laws and voter roll maintenance practices in exchange for the State Board of Elections continuing its effort to collect incomplete registration information from certain voters, according to the terms of the agreement.

The RNC and North Carolina GOP sued in September 2024, seeking the removal of 225,000 voters who they claimed had been unlawfully registered over the past decade due to the use of improper forms that did not collect driver’s license numbers or the last four digits of Social Security numbers as required.

That seems a bit weak from the party that had complete control of the Assembly before all of this. They are up to something.

Their history suggests nothing else.
