Amazon to cut over 2,300 jobs in Washington as part of companywide layoffs

Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) will lay off 2,303 employees in Washington as part of its cuts to 14,000 corporate jobs companywide, according to a state filing posted Tuesday afternoon.

Amazon will cut roles in software engineering, recruitment, human resources, product management, data engineering and user experience design, among other roles, the company disclosed in the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification.

In Seattle, where Amazon has about 50,000 employees, the tech giant will lay off 1,887 people, per the filing. In Bellevue, where it has about 14,300 employees, Amazon will cut 284 roles.

Fourteen of the employees being laid off in Washington work at company warehouses, including in Bremerton, Puyallup, Kent and Burlington. Amazon will also cut two employees in Renton, as well as 116 in-state employees working remotely, the filing states.
