New look, new location: what's changing for Benton County voters this election

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. — The Aug. 4 primary election is less than a month away, and Benton County voters will notice several changes to their voting materials this year.

Ballots are scheduled to be mailed next Wednesday. Voters will notice a new design on their ballot envelopes, the result of a statewide standard recently passed by the state legislature. While the layout is now uniform across all Washington counties, each county will be distinguished by a unique color.

The county’s ballot drop boxes have also received a makeover. The update includes a fresh look and a transition to a ".gov" website address.

"We looked at implementing a new change for the ballot boxes because we had our old website on there anyway, and the counties moved to the .gov ending," Amanda Hatfield, Benton County election manager said. "It was kind of a move to update that, but then give the ballot boxes a fresh look and feel for the primary."
