Ongert announces re-election bid for mayor

WEST BEND — West Bend Mayor Joel Ongert announced on Wednesday that he will be running for re-election as West Bend’s mayor in the 2026 spring election.

"Although the election is still 10 months away, I’m eager to share my intention to continue serving our community and humbly ask for the support of West Bend residents as I seek a second term," Ongert said in a news release.

Ongert’s campaign emphasized that his goal is to continue his commitment to moving West Bend forward with professionalism, fiscal responsibility and a focus on community priorities, while strengthening public safety, improving city infrastructure, driving economic development and enhancing the quality of life in the city.

"Over the past few years, I’ve worked to attract new businesses, create more employment opportunities, and increase the city’s ability to invest in the services and amenities our residents expect and deserve," Ongert said in the release. "I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, but there’s more work to be done."
