Miami stuns Ohio State!

What a game! I love it when Ohio State losses a game, which isn’t often. Nothing personal against Buckeye fans, but it’s a great night for OSU haters like myself.

'In the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff (CFP) during the 2024 season, all four teams that received first-round byes—#1 Oregon, #2 Georgia, #3 Boise State, and #4 Arizona State—lost their quarterfinal matchups to lower seeds that had played in the first round.

Now they are 0-5...

the death of Coach Kirby Smart's father likewise, who had come to New Orleans to watch the game but died of a massive MI. So, I'm thinking all of THAT weighed more than too much time off. Likewise Boise State and probably Arizona State were not that competitive last year--a bit like this year's James Madison and Tulane (not saying these were not good teams, but were less tested than others).

This year, Ohio State had just lost their conference championship to Indiana, so I'd bet that was weighing more on them than extra time off for the holidays.

We shall see tomorrow, but from what I've seen of Kirby Smart's really tough practice sessions with UGA team the past weeks, I don't think he's willing to let them get "rusty." My guess is that the other "bye" teams likewise learned that lesson from last year.

They had one of the best running backs in the nation last year plus when both Leavitt and Jordan Tyson were healthy they were really hard to stop. They were the Big 12 champion last year same as Texas Tech this year whose only loss this season was to Arizona State on the road.

You could make a case against Boise State but they did play #1 Oregon and barely lost to them on the road. This was also at the same time their running back, like Skatteboo was one of the best in the nation was averaging nearly 10 yards a carry.

I think straight seeding is better but I think Arizona State would have done well as an #11 seed last year. Last year they had to play who was really the true #3 seed. Rust definitely affected them in the first half but once they were in rhythm they led a furious comeback and still almost won with the lead late in the game.

But then I would have bet the ranch that OSU was going to win tonight, so who knows.

and especially after knocking off Texas A&M, I think they were just mentally sharper.

I am now rooting for Oregon and Indiana to win it all. Let's make Paul Finebaum lose his mind when B1G win three natties in a row.
