And like others have posted here, I suspect at least part of their crap is undetectable backdoors funneling money to Musk, Theil, etc, out of the trust fund.

9. I have recently heard that COBOL has, in a way, protected the huge federal systems from more frequent and successful

hacking. Two Cobol courses were required when I started back to school for computer science in 88. We all hated it, but it was the first language I learned because they were required. Anyway, I rather enjoyed the idea that those old systems are too much for today's hackers!

10. Wow, a great story. 88 was just about in the same time frame that my post is referring to--the entire state's schools.

.... accounting system was written in COBOL at the time.

If you read my long history post, it indicated that Social Security was written in COBOL (at least some parts)
