Oscar time, Yippee

I enjoy the Oscars so much, even though I don't have a clue about the movies up for contention

Conan O'Brien is expected to give tribute to Gene Hackman. Conan's house was burned badly in the Los Angeles Fires

Here is a clip of: A Young Conan O'Brien interviews his siblings from 1974, he was around age 10

"I don't have a clue about the movies up for contention" is the reason I DON'T give a damn about the Oscars.

2. When are the Oscars?

I’ve seen about half of 10 movies. I hear A Complete Unknown is really good. I’m too cheap to pay the $30 to stream it and will wait for other nominee prices to come down.

I liked The Covenant; I think The Substance was bizarre.

Oscars, Academy awards Sunday, March 2, 2025. The ceremony will air live on ABC at 6 PM cst.

I have this in my notes from last year, about where to find it. Not sure how well the info will hold up

The only thing that works is Youtube Live TV for whatever TV station is carrying it, like ABC or CBS. I spent an hour and half trying to find a place that carried it, and finally youtube tv worked. Can get a free trial. Check online to see the date will air.

3. I used to be a much more prolific movie-goer and would see most of the nominees in the picture and acting categories.

But now, since 90% of the offerings at the local theaters are the same warmed over comic book bullshit, braindead rom-com or slasher porn gorefest, I maybe make it to the theater once a month or so. Most of the nominated films will never exhibit around here, unless they win big and then they might see a re-release afterward.

So, I haven't cared about watching the Oscars in years.

Edit to add: Thanks to that video I now know what it would look like if you grafted an adult Conan's head onto a 10-year-old boy's body.

The Oscars.......ah, ok, the Hollywood Elite........but they’re human, and give us a break from the shit that our lives are in now. I love the glam the glitz, and the BS. and OMG what if the pieces of shit inhabiting the USA government will EVER shut down Hollywood??? FAWK THEM.
