I don’t think many have any idea who Mame is and definitely not that character. I’ve seen the movie and play but didn’t remember that name as it’s been two decades Since I saw it. Maybe throw it on twitter and it will remind some.

3. That was the very first video I ever bought

Had to special order it and I think I paid something like $25 for it.

She was definitely a liberal firebrand, but now that I have two adult daughters, I have changed my attitude about the way she was treated as a helpless female. Her attempts at employment during the depression were very funny (the switchboard operator scene is a crack up) but she was only successful when she was being funded and cared for by a man. Different times and different attitudes, for sure.

Peggy Cass was priceless too!

Years ago I took my grandchildren to a film festival...Auntie Mame was the feature film of the night...they loved it...and to this day when I get on my proverbial soapbox they say "Auntie Mame is back!"...yes she is!
