Hopefully this adaptation will stay more true to the novel than the earlier ones.

Last year, I gave a copy each to two students of mine (I'm a TEFL teacher here in Europe), a brother and sister, and had them read it and then give me a book report on it.

They both genuinely enjoyed the novel, appreciating its thematic complexity and world-building. Today, for the first time in a long time, I saw them again and had them watch the trailer. And they absolutely loved it.

Making this film has been Denis Villeneuve's passion project for a long, long time - and he's certainly emerged as a genuinely great director. I think he's going to do fans of Dune proud.
