Joe Bell

saw this film yesterday in Greenville NC, only 2 in the theater on a Saturday night. Good but horrifically sad film (if Joy Luck Club is a 10 on the sadness scale Joe Bell is an 8.5). This is based on a true story of the father of a gay son who kills himself after being bullied mercilessly who decides to walk from his Oregon hometown to NYC. Mark Wallburg played the father and Reid Miller played the son (both in flashback and the father's imagination). Worth seeing but again, bring tissues.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
