On February 5, 1899, Ramon Novarro was born.

Film star of the 1920s & 30s,Ramon Novarro was #BornOnThisDay, Feb. 5, 1899. In 1968 Novarro (age 69)was beaten to death by 2 brothers Paul & Tom Ferguson,(age 22 & 17)who phoned him, posing as prostitutes to enter, & steal, robbing him of 20 dollars. #RIP #GoneTooSoon #truecrime

... when they were young women running wild in Hollywood. He was a few years older than they were.

I have some photos of him I found in my great aunt's scrapbooks. Alas I don't have the stories that go with the photos.

My grandma and her sister had this good girl / bad girl act going on which opened many doors for them in Hollywood as the angel on one arm and a devil on the other.

If they ever discussed Navarro's murder it wasn't in front of me and my siblings. My "bad girl" great aunt didn't start telling me her Hollywood adventures unedited until she was in her nineties. (My grandma had already passed away.)

My parents met working in Hollywood and have always had gay friends. Their home has always been a safe haven for LGBTQ people in a "don't ask don't tell" way, which can sometimes seem a bit awkward in modern times.
