(46,415 posts)It looks like something I would really love, but it often disappoints. I will eventually see the new movie, if only for the scenery, sets and costumes.

(1,969 posts)As expected, it was visually stunning in every detail. The characters were portrayed with deep intelligence, compassion, respect, and disarming wit. This morning, the impression that lingers foremost in my mind is a sense of wonderment over the movies subversive subtlety in demonstrating the growing pressures on a patriarchal, class-based social system to change.

(25,483 posts)The sets and costumes were fabulous. The storyline was a little corny. And without a spoiler, I thought the ending was pretty depressing.

(32,514 posts)The villa in the south of France was fabulous. Loved the jazz band at the party. Nice period touch.
The cast must have enjoyed shooting the movie within the movie with all the period equipment.
Very enjoyable two hours.
