1966. Highly recommended. You'll probably cry. It was on TCM on demand, but it's been removed. It's on Prime. Living Free is the 1974 sequel. It was enjoyable.

(52,995 posts)Some things don't change. My disposition is prone to this reaction when I see animals being hurt. A few years after Born Free I was even more upset when we watched a nature show where wild packs of female animals were mean to another female who just lost her litter and were attacking her. Just awful!!! No more nature shows for me in this lifetime. Even Dodo videos makes me cry and they usually have happy endings to their animal stories.

as perfect as I remembered it. Not that I remembered it clearly. I was about 7 when I saw it.

The song must have been written specifically for the movie. Apparently, even songs adapted from plays aren't eligible.
