Behind the friendship between Paige Bueckers and DiJonai Carrington: 'Big sister-little sister'

UNCASVILLE — Being traded to the Dallas Wings this offseason meant a new team, a new city, and new teammates for former Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington. The move also came with a new role.

After four years in Connecticut as one of the youngest players in the locker room, she’s now one of the oldest with the Wings. Carrington was the team’s least experienced starter with only three previous seasons under her belt last year. This summer with the Wings, the 27-year-old Carrington is tied as the third-oldest player on the roster.

With the new perspective comes a new responsibility – helping the team’s young players adapt to the league. That includes star rookie and former UConn women’s basketball sensation Paige Bueckers.

The two have formed an unexpectedly close bond thanks to their shared humor, faith, and love for the game.
