Kansas State University has fired head basketball coach Jerome Tang after he described his team as "embarrassing" amid a disappointing season.
The coach for the Kansas State Wildcats attracted national media attention after berating his players during a Wednesday, Feb. 11, press conference following the team's 91-62 loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats.
"This was embarrassing," Tang said of the loss, adding, "These dudes do not deserve to wear this uniform, and there will be very few of them in it next year. I'm embarrassed for the university, I'm embarrassed for our fans. Our student section.
At the time, the coach, who was in his fourth season at the university, said that he had "no words" to respond to the loss, describing the situation as "just ridiculous" and admitting that he was "pissed."

Probably settle for around 10 million. He could just invest it and easily earn $400k per year before taxes.

(1,472 posts)To publicly berate your players and demean them is abhorrent and indefensible. Did he ever think their poor performance may be partly due to his abusive conduct? When students or players are struggling, you help them, you build them up, you lead with integrity and a positive attitude.
I am 100% in favor of his firing. The mental cruelty he demonstrated in public may be less than what took place in the locker room. I hope he never finds another coaching position..
