Canada PM Candidate Chrystia Freeland: Trump's tariffs 'self-defeating and self-mutilating' - Velshi - MSNBC

“Dear United States, you’re about to hurt yourself,” says Chrystia Freeland, one of the candidates to be the next Canadian Prime Minister. Trump continues to threaten tariffs on America’s global trading partners - both allies and adversaries - claiming the U.S., the world’s largest economy, is being treated “unfairly.” - Aired on 02/16/2025.

It makes these nonsensical moves suddenly make sense if you just replace Trump with Putin

Molson might be one beer but I think they are also brewed in the US. I’ll keep an eye on this thread for other suggestions.

And yeah, whoever the hell the POTUS is on any given day, why are we wanting to mess with our Good Neighbor Canada? I ask again, WHY? Every time I think of Canada I have good and positive thoughts. You have to be an incredibly hateful, horrible human being to consider harming Canadians. When will the buyers remorse start setting in MAGAs?

We get a lot of Canadian visitors, mainly Quebec and Ontario, during the tourist season. I'm wondering if that's going to stop? And I have Canadian friends, when I went to summer camp in Vermont growing up, many counselors and fellow campers were Canadian. One who comes regularly to camp reunions was a counselor who lives in Quebec and brings his wife who I love. She once gave me quite a lecture on how terrible TFG is, not that I disagreed.

And it's traditional for a new POTUS to make his first "foreign" trip to Canada, our closest neighbor and ally. But of course TFG broke tradition and made his first foreign trip to Saudi Arabia - likely at Jared's suggestion.

Ottawa back in the 80s. Beautiful country and people. We still cherish that trip. There is zero positive reason to attempt to harm them. I appreciate the Secretaries logic and delivery. Spot on.

My brother and I went with him (and my mother) on one of their trips and when they were visited by friends from overseas (he was British, she was Irish, lived in London) he took them on a weekend trip to Ottawa!
