Idaho police officers opened fire from behind a chain-link fence just seconds after exiting their patrol cars and critically wounded a teenage boy — described by his family as nonverbal, autistic and intellectually disabled — as he stepped toward them with a knife, video from a witness shows.

Seventeen-year-old Victor Perez, who also has cerebral palsy, remained hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after having nine bullets removed from his body and having his leg amputated, Ana Vazquez, his aunt, told The Associated Press. Doctors were planning tests on his brain activity.

“We don't know if he's going to wake up,” she said.

This is my nightmare. I have it almost every night.

My autistic son is 20 years old now. My size (big) but couldn't harm a fly. He is animated. He tells you he is speaking to you by touching your arm. He communicates by reciting lines form his childhood cartoons. He exhibits his frustrations by shaking his arms and imitiating the Anger character from Pixar's Inside Out when he blows his top.

One day he will do that near the wrong person, a person with a badge and body armor and training that says shoot first, ask quesitons later, and no matter what, make sure you make it your next round of doughnuts and steroids.

Why is it that I hope that every one of those cops has their own child executed in front of them?
