Let's talk about Trump's fictional military deployment to Greenland and sled dogs.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump's made-up military deployment to Greenland.
If you missed it over the weekend, Trump announced he was sending a great hospital boat to Greenland to take care of the many people who are sick and not being taken care of there. It's on the way. Later, it was confirmed that DoD had received no such orders.
The video we put out seems to still be the most likely chain of events in which Trump got embarrassed that a US service member had to be rescued by Danish forces via a Seahawk helicopter even though he had spent weeks mocking their forces. Turns out they do in fact have more forces than just sled dog teams, which I say again for the sake of clarity those teams are incredibly elite forces and it's a safe bet those making fun of them wouldn't make the cut.
That led to this question. Miss Belle, one of the things I love about all of your shows is that you talk about what is likely and potential and possible. You condition your opinions versus facts. I was very surprised to hear you just say, "No, Trump didn't send a hospital boat without a conditional. I'm curious how you knew that to be a fact?
I'm pretty familiar with US military assets, especially medical ones. When we only have two hospital ships, and I know for a fact they're both just a few hours from my house undergoing maintenance. I know they aren't on the way to Greenland.
But I want to be clear about something. The Comfort and the Mercy each have a little more than a thousand Navy crew and a little less than a 100 civilian crew members when staffed. The President of the United States basically told the American people that a thousand service members were deployed when they weren't. That's not a small discrepancy. Not knowing what's happening with military assets shouldn't be a situation the president is in. It's so bad for the administration they'll probably throw together a civilian ship just to save face.
Now for a bonus question, Belle, stick to what you know about. Making it seem like the dog handlers in Greenland are elite shows you don't know what you're talking about. Can you explain why an elite unit uses bolt-action rifles? Give me a break.
Sure. Well, the Mark 22 is used primarily to achieve greater accuracy at longer range. Oh wait, that's the one used by US Special Operations Command. The Marines got them operational in 2024. The dog sled teams tend to use infields because they operate in climates that reach -50 and semi-auto weapons might freeze. They also need something with enough punch to deal with a polar bear if needed. They also carry a Glock 20 and 10 mm, which is definitely a choice.
So, the takeaway is that it looks like Trump made up a military deployment to cover up for needing help from the military that he made fun of. And it seems like Trump supporting Americans still don't understand Arctic warfare challenges.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
