Related: About this forumTrump makes humiliating mistake at public ceremony - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen
BTC: Trump holds a White House event to show how much he respects moms or maybe he was just looking for his fourth wife. This is just another day.
With Mother's Day just around the corner, Trump felt it only fitting to host a special luncheon in the Rose Garden to showcase his appreciation for all those strong, inspiring moms.
[cut to video]
Trump: You know, where you're standing uh or sitting right now is white stone and that was grass. And the problem with it is you couldn't walk on it because this was built on a wetland and the grass was always soaking wet. It didn't matter.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Guess it's a uh slow ramp up to that appreciation. Okay. Honoring our mothers in three, two, one.
[cut to video]
Trump: We uh added the pictures of the presidents from George Washington to a guy named Trump. Right up here, you probably noticed the new uh black granite. And it's uh it's been so well received, people can't even believe it because the stones were all broken and really in bad disrepair.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Wow. This guy just gets moms. I mean, if there is one thing I'm pretty sure all moms love doing, it's sitting in the sweltering hot sun while a man rambles on about all of his home improvement projects. But Donald Trump eventually put aside all that gloating over his home repair and finally focused on the mothers and all that they've had to sacrifice.
[cut to video]
Trump: This afternoon, we're also joined by some of the most extraordinary mothers our nation has ever produced. Our cherished gold star moms. These are gold star moms. These mothers raised up children so selfless and so devoted that they volunteered to wear the uniform of our nation and laid down their lives for all of us.
[cut to studio]
BTC: I agree. I can't think of anything more tragic than losing a child who courageously served in our Armed Forces, except, I suppose, having their death exploited for fundraising purposes by the guy who literally sent them to war. But this mother lover continued on.
[cut to video]
Trump: I want to thank every single mother here this afternoon and all across our nation for your work every single day.
America's moms are raising really raising the future of our country. The most important. You have the most. We don't call it a job because when you love it, it's not a job. But let's for this purpose, you have the most important job there is in America or any place else and you're doing an incredible job.
[cut to studio]
BTC: That's right. This president thinks that you moms are doing such incredible work at this job you love. He and his Republican colleagues know that you can handle even more of a workload.
[cut to video from USA Today]
Trump: The United States can't take care of daycare.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Hey, come on. Don't sell yourself short. I think that we've seen that our government can easily take care of daycare. In fact, Trump himself put as much on full display.
[cut to video from PBS News]
Trump: You might be too young for this. I don't know if I want. They probably know. They They probably know better than most people, but you can't let a bunch of lunatics have a nuclear weapon.
[cut to video from WH Christmas call-in]
Child: Pennsylvania.
Trump: Right? I know. Oh, Pennsylvania is great. We won Pennsylvania. Actually, three times, but we won Pennsylvania.
[cut to video from WH Easter Egg Roll]
Trump: Biden would use the autopen. He'd have an auto pen follow you know. Joe by he didn't sign he was incapable of sign so they'd follow him around with this big machine you know what it's called an auto path.
[cut to studio]
BTC: See daycare is no problem at all. Frankly if these moms really love their kids they'd raise them on the old-fashioned way in a golden palace in the sky where their child can roam freely on their own stuffed lion. [image of Trump, Melania, and Barron in Manhattan apartment]
Now I have to say of all the people to be standing at a podium representing gratitude toward our nation's mothers, Donald Trump is the last guy that I would pick. It's like having Kanye officiate your child's bar mitzvah, but while millions of American moms are at home trying to figure out what they're going to do about childcare, many of them also get the awesome responsibility of figuring out how to feed those daycareless kids.
[cut to video on Finnerty from NEWSMAX]
Brooke Rollins: Now, the good news, in just one year alone, we've already moved 4 and a half million people off of SNAP.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Hey, that is good news. I mean, unless you're one of the 40 million Americans who are currently hungry and need that food assistance to survive, but other than that, definitely worth bragging about.
[cut to video on Finnerty from NEWSMAX]
Brooke Rollins: And that's just the beginning. So, we're going to be pulling more and more people off that shouldn't be on the program, ensuring that the taxpayers are protected and frankly, part of this is the dignity of work. Right. This is a great American biblical foundational principle that people should work.
[cut to studio]
BTC: That's right. Work shall set you free. A solid message from the Trump administration, although it probably sounded better in the original German.
But you know what? Let's grant that people should work. There's just one small issue with this hunt for dignified employment.
[cut to video]
Reporter: President Donald Trump's trade war continued to reverberate through the corporate world on Tuesday as UPS said it would cut 20,000 jobs to lower costs.
[cut to video local CBS affiliate]
Host: For the first time in nearly 50 years, a Westford small business is dealing with layoffs. And they say President Trump's tariffs are to blame.
[cut to video from ABC affiliate in Kentucky]
Host: Aston Martin is blaming tariffs for mass layoffs.
[cut to video from KSL Radio]
Host: John Deere, the legacy tractor maker, has announced layoffs at three facilities as that company grapples with tariffs and declining sales.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Well, if Jesus could turn water into wine, maybe he'll come back and turn all of those layoffs into jobs. You know, because work is such a

Brooke Rollins. Biblical foundational principle.
BTC: Got it. The reality is that Donald Trump and the GOP are insanely anti-mom. And I'm putting an asterisk next to Mike Pence since he calls his wife mother and that just complicates things. For instance, they're more than happy to tell you what type of medicine you can and can't take.
[cut to video]
Trump: If you're pregnant, don't take Tylenol.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Yep. If you're pregnant and not feeling well, follow our president's medical advice and just cake some makeup onto your belly. That seems to make everything better, right? Well, maybe not.
Earlier this year, the administration axed the team behind the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System.
Republicans in Nebraska, Indiana, and West Virginia have successfully passed legislation in 2026 rolling back child labor regulations, with legislation led by Republicans pending in other states, including Florida, Missouri, and Virginia.
The child tax credit expansion failed to provide any boost to 17 million children and families with lower incomes. And another 2 million children will receive less than the full $200 per child increase.
Not to mention this guy not wanting to vaccinate your kiddos.
[inset image of RFK Jr.]
BTC in fake voice: The vaccine is poison. The real key to health and wellness is just hot tubbing with your jeans on. [another image of RFK Jr.]
BTC: The truth is, per usual, this is window dressing. Donald Trump cares as much about moms as he does about health care, gas prices, and housing because last time I checked, this woman counts as a mom.
[cut to video from NBC local affiliate]
Dorothy Granard: It makes me sick. Literally turns my stomach.
Reporter: That's Dorothy Granard's feeling whose daughter Carolyn was recruited by Epstein when she was only 14 years old. According to her mother, the unimaginable acts that she lived in Epstein's mansion haunted her for years.
Granard: A wreck. A wreck. Because she would disappear out of shame.
Reporter: Authorities declared her daughter Carolyn dead due to an overdose in May of last year. She left behind five children and her mother. The only person somewhat responsible was Jeffrey Epstein.
[cut to studio]
BTC: So, how does Trump treat that mother?
[cut to video from C-SPAN]
Trump: We have nothing to do with Epstein. The Democrats do.
[cut to video from Fox News]
Trump: I know it's a hoax. It's started by Democrats.
[cut to video from Fox News]
Trump: These files were made up by Comey. They were made up by Obama. They were made up by the Biden. You know, uh we and we went through years of that.
[cut to video from Cabinet meeting]
Trump: Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein?
[cut to studio]
BTC: I know, right? It's like, get over it already. Or how about just some of those working women who may or may not become moms in the future, but are trying to go to work and get treated with respect and dignity.
[cut to video from C-SPAN]
Trump: This is one of the worst reporters. Uh she's with ABC Fake News and she's a horror show.
[cut to video]
Trump: You're the most obnoxious reporter in the whole place. Let me just tell you, you are an obnoxious a terrible actually a terrible reporter.
[cut to video]
Trump: She's shocked that I picked her. It's like in a state of shock.
Reporter: I'm not thinking, Mr.
Trump: That's okay. I know you're not thinking. You never do.
Reporter: I'm sorry.
Trump: No, go ahead.
[cut to video]
Trump: You are the worst reporter. No wonder to see CNN has no ratings because of people like you. You know, she's a young woman. I don't think I've ever seen you smile. I've known you for 10 years. Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person? Because they came into on a plane along with thousands of other people that shouldn't be here and you're just asking questions because you're a stupid person.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Fun fact, that last woman that Trump was calling a stupid person was Nancy Cordes, who also happens to be that other thing that Trump despises, a mother.
Trump's Rose Garden speech today was simply a microcosm of his entire presidency. A flashy marketing event where he paints himself as this white knight who heroically saved our nation when in reality, every single one of his party's policies have exacerbated the problems that he claims to have fixed and that is because this man is an expert at marketing, not governing. His entire job as president is based around the idea of making life harder for millions of moms while he makes his own life as a dad as easy as it can be.
[inset video]
Trump: We don't call it a job because when you love it, it's not a job.
BTC: We can see that.
