Mass email just received from the DNC about a "People's Cabinet" -- what do you think?

It ends with the obligatory "send us $3" pitch, but this is the bulk of the rest of it. What do you think? Good idea, or ultimately performative and pointless? Personally, I think it doesn't seem like a bad idea in principle. I guess it remains to be seen whether they can carry it off effectively.

EarlG,

Right now, it’s our responsibility as Democrats to challenge Trump’s lies, confront his reckless agenda, and communicate to voters all over the country that we can offer a better alternative.

With your help, that’s exactly what we’re doing — take a look:

Breaking: DNC Chair Ken Martin Launches “People's Cabinet” to Fiercely Counter Trump Administration Chaos and Lies

The DNC recently announced a new project: The People’s Cabinet. This project brings together qualified policy experts, national and local leaders, and voices from our communities — people who will cut through the lies and speak directly to Americans about the reality of what the Trump administration is doing.

The People’s Cabinet will include a wide array of national, state, and local experts on the economy, health care, working families and communities, public safety, and national security and foreign policy — including former Labor Secretary and co-founder of Inequality Media Civic Action Robert Reich, former Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su, former Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, and more.

In order to reach as many people as possible and meet them where they are, the Cabinet will conduct briefings with media and coalition partners, speak directly with Americans at town halls, produce digital content to reach people across the platforms where they get their news, engage in rapid response to counter the lies and disinformation from the Trump Administration, and serve as thought leaders for the Democratic ecosystem on effective strategy and tactics in countering the worst of the Republican agenda.

We heard from thousands of people earlier this year that you want to see Democrats aggressively countering Trump, while reaching voters where they are, year-round. That’s exactly what we’re working to do.

How about our Congressional Leaders bring these experts and community leaders with them at their town halls?

Hey Mr. Martin, have you seen what AOC and Bernie are doing? They just drew crowds of 20 thousand and 36 thousand people in red areas of the country. I believe there are more than 2 Democratic Congressional members of Congress.

Hey Ken, how about joining with Indivisible in promoting protests across the country?

Hey Ken, I bet that Martin O'Malley would love to be the guest of a Congressional Democrat at a town hall to explain how Krasnov/Musk are gutting Social Security.

Congress is on a 2 week vacation, how about doing town halls?

All Martin had to do was watch some TV and see how the people will show up in numbers to town halls.

I watched Martin O'Malley speak at a town hall about Social Security, Congressional Democrats should be taking him to town halls all across the country.

Schumer and Jeffries should have been pushing for this months ago.

I posted here, "Town Halls", 67 times.

Even if it is wrong... but DO SOMETHING"...

I'm inclined to agree and this strategy seems reasonable. At least it is DOING SOMETHING. (And yes, I do credit all the Congressional Reps and Senators for their public and town hall outreach, which was led clearly by AOC/Bernie).

We can't wait for the MSM to save us, can't wait for a hero to save us, can't wait for the courts to save us, can't wait for the next election to save us. Saving our democracy is up to us.

Town halls will serve numerous purposes:

1. Elected leaders listen to what the people are saying.
2. Inform the people all that Krasnov/Musk is doing to destroy their lives.
3. Inform the people how Democrats are fighting for the working people and Magats are fighting for the billionaires. Inform them about how the upcoming 4.7 trillion dollar tax cuts for billionaires will be funded by cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and others.
4. Organize the people. Get them to get out and publicly protest, get them to call their Reps.
5. Get them to fight and the MSM will be forced to cover it.

State officials from big blue states like NY and CA may be able to take action that will impede the Felon. I've heard some discussion about kidnapping prosecutions against ICE and others by state officials. Also about prosecuting Trump regime members for insider trading.

For instance, they had Martin O'Malley all over the networks and at Town Halls discussing the problems DOGE was creating for Social Security. They are putting together a "rapid response" team if you will. Democrats who are willing and able to get on the networks, social media, any place we they can counter or fact check the Republican narrative and give a strong voice for what the Democratic Party stands for and what we want to do.

I'm for it.

Exactly, You get it.

This is why Congressional Magats were ordered to not do town halls, they want to keep the people in the dark and misinformed.

after J6 but then came right back. We need to follow suit. Flood the zone as they say. Flood it with truth. The time is ripe. I am still angry at people that got us here, but many of them are now having buyers' remorse. Now is the time to tap into that.

The strategy to let Krasnov/Musk burn it all down and then beat them in the midterms is a poor and losing strategy.

We must get out and fight now. It is up to the people to throw out the billionaires.

amount of Black people feel they've been "called upon" excessively compared to others when elections loom: while I think all groups should be included by race, ethnicity, income, work, unemployed, under employed, religious, HS, Colleges, Universities, secular, city, 'burbs, rural, and any other groups.....

Definitely must target every variable group of White people; of which I am: voted since 1971 (first round of 18 yr olds.I was so excited!), have made self designed Preidential Posters for several elections when I had access to computer design programs that I'd put up in my neighborhood, and at Columbia and NYU areas. Or if no access rhen hand write the phone # for Election Help on neighbor posters.

[yes, I'm tooting my horn a bit. I'd never call my myself an activist. A semi-activist, that I could do. Just to point our I've tried to do something over the decades. Volunteered for Presidential elections, too]

I'll be keeping an eye out for their efforts.

…and starting at the grass roots, show Dems how to get involved with school boards, speaking at city councils and county boards of supervisors (different names in different parts of the country) , county commissions, and so on. Have “how-to” conversations with Dems.

In the meantime we Dems and all Non-Trumpers desperately need to see Dem leaders get aggressive with trump.
