On has to remember that Trump is essentially a 13 year boy, who more than anything hates being made fun of. His military parade was a flop and made him look like a fool. The following probably went down in his adolescent mind:

"So they laughed at my military parade, huh? I'll show them how tough I am by hitting Iran BIGLY. "
