The buggy whip makers got other jobs. It is less clear what current displaced workers will get.

The best broad-based solution is to tax the 1% heavily and bring in guaranteed basic income and guaranteed health care. You can then eliminate unemployment payments and people don't get bankrupted by common health issues.

AI (not the current iteration, which is very limited and very buggy) will make society capable of great abundance. All should benefit, not just the rich. The rich got lucky in choice of parents and in opportunities provided by society. Plenty of people worked just as hard or harder than the rich but do not benefit, so the moralist arguments the cons use are a dead end. Where there is guaranteed basic income, people do not get more lazy, they get on with their lives and crime goes down. Win-win.
