Lots of gears turning within a certain group as to how to cleverclogs their way around the 'support the Dem nominee' DU precept.

I guarantee some of them wanted the progressive hating Cuomo in there as a force to aid in the attempted scuppering of an AOC campaign if she runs for US Senate in 2028.

It's their dream scenario. AOC would give up her House seat and then lose (so they hope) the Dem primary, thus taking her completely out of elected office, perhaps on a permanent basis, as she has little hope to move up in House leadership (too many centrists and conservadems will be there to put paid to those hopes) so she would likely not try and regain her House seat.

She is the big scalp a certain type of anti-prog Dem dreams of. The minute Sanders is no longer in the Senate, AOC becomes the main face of Democratic Party progressivism. Anti-prog Dems would go into ecstasy if AOC was removed from the elected office stage.
