(67,103 posts)there will be a few assholes but for the most part it will be a welcoming group of people. We have visited it several times and spoken to some of the residents. And we had lunch there and visited their other dining rooms/snack bars.
We are moving to an apartment where everything can be reached by elevator or is on the floor itself. Hubby is physically handicapped and uses a walker. I have an arthritic spine. But we are sane.
I can do my art thing and will continue. Hubby can watch his sports ad infinitum on TV.
Mercifully, I will be spared much cooking of meals. I am looking forward to that. There are dining rooms and rooms where you can get lighter fare, if you just want soup and a sandwich. It's kinda like a cruise in that way.
Masonicare places probably vary in the types of residents but we met some interesting folks. I was able to have a great conversation with a retired Yale professor and we talked about art.
