16. The small rural town where I used to live in PA had a 'New to You" shop next door to the food bank.

It was run by volunteers and all the money generated by selling used clothing and books, puzzles and small housewares bought the food they gave out each Friday along with canned goods etc. from donation drop off boxes in the banks and some of the stores. During COVID they had to close the store part. I used to go on Thurs when they were packing things to give out and give them a twenty dollar bill. I am retired so that was all I could afford. I know I was not the only person that did that and the drop off boxes got filled every week with food donations. Even though they did not open the store for over a year and what they gave out was not as much as normal times, they managed to keep people fed.
