(60,565 posts)Ohio in 2004 was the Florida of 2000. 2004 was the first year in which electronic voting machines were first widely used in a presidential election. Diebold vote counting machines were made in Ohio. Its CEO declared he would "deliver Ohio for Bush." Ohio's Secretary of State was also the Ohio chairman of the Bush re-election committee. Exit polls indicated that Kerry had won Ohio. Although Bush's win was a "surprise upset," Diebold went to court to get their vote counting machines designated "private property," and thus ineligible for forensic examination to make sure their reported results were accurate. However ONE of their machines, way out in some rural precinct DID get forensically examined before its owners came to collect it. This was a precinct with 600 registered voters. The machine reported 3000 votes for Bush. The machine's makers declared that it was just a "glitch" that by no means warranted forensic examination of the other machines. The Republicans did magnanimously reduce the margin of victory in Ohio by 2400 votes, though.
Forget Republican claims of "anti-kommanism." They are the consummate Stalinists ("Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything" ). правду сказать, товарищи!!
