In my opinion, you are correct, AI is a tool. Now, the problem is that those who are shaping AI are like the assassins, and I would bet some of them are assassins because of their past and present actions.

So, we have Elon Musk, Peter Thiel and some other crazies shaping AI, and to me, THAT IS THE PROBLEM. Unless regulation comes along to curve the assassins desires, then AI will become another problem we will have to deal with, it will become a tool for evil. We see now how evil people are using it for misinformation, to distort reality making people believe things that are not true, so I hope regulations kick in, which I doubt will happen while republicans are in power.
