Embed the CIA and use mind control instead of getting Ollie North to send them arms.

We really haven't done much about Iran. Just treated them like another Arab state, which they aren't. Eisenhower and Nixon gave the shah unlimited power and an unlimited budget. Nothing much was done to prevent Khomeini from taking over, thinking that he was better than the shah. Iran actually had some good moderate revolutionary leaders at the time (not Islamic), yet Khomeini plowed in and killed them. They had a provisional parliament. Only Bonisadr survived because he fled the country.

The western media was enthralled over Khomeini, but he should have stayed in France. Yet, the western world fell in love with him and considered him "another Ghandi".

Should have done what we did with the Soviet Union. Embed, embed, embed....

The US has underestimated Iran from the get-go...
