Sorry Dad, this isn't what you put your life on the line for. [View all]

My dad, who passed away over 20 years ago, was a WW2 vet. He was in the Army and stationed in the Pacific where most of his time was spent on Guam and other islands. He was proud of his service but was reluctant to talk about the worst of what he experienced. Throughout his life he had a loathing of the Republican Party. From the earliest time I can remember, he often reminded us that “Republicans only care about the rich” and “any working person who votes for the GOP is voting against their own best interests”. He wasn’t an educated man, only made it to the 8th grade, but he had a keen political awareness that stayed with him until he passed away. I’m so glad he isn’t around to see what we have to wake up to every morning, it would destroy him. He detested Bush with a passion, his hatred of the orange felon would be boundless.
