(34,851 posts)To get to the closest one, I would have to drive 10 miles and get on the I-10 access road. It's just not convenient. I've never been. It's in a recently closed Bed Bath and Beyond. Next to an Old Navy and Men's Wearhouse, the Outback and a bunch of other shops. I don't think they have carry out at Trader's Joes.
HEB is "around the corner" and in my neighborhood.
Other parts of Texas have other grocery store chains, San Antonio does not. We used to have Kroger, Albertson's and Handy Andy but HEB drove them out in the early 90s.
I think we have a few odd-ball stores such as La Fiesta, (they were like a Piggy Wiggly) but most have closed.
Smaller convenience chains like La Michoacana and dollar stores have forced most of them to close.
San Antonio has 1.5 million people, so yeah just because there is a Trader's Joe doesn't mean it's close and not subject to traffic jams.
