We can also connect to our laptops to our TV with an HDMI cable.

We're only watching the no-advertising version of Netflix recently so it doesn't matter how we connect. Maybe the choice comes down to who you'd rather have watching you as you watch TV -- Google, Amazon, Roku, etc....

Google seems the most intrusive to me, especially so when you've got your entire internet identity attached to your android cell phone.

I've quit Amazon, at least while the Republicans are in charge, are but my wife is still entangled with them. I'm still somewhat entangled with google, but not on my "dumb" cell phone. It doesn't do email, which is okay by me since I only check my email once a fortnight whether I need to or not.
