They talked to one of his guy friends who said he referred to it as his "Little Totenkopf" years earlier.
Search back to the earlier post here on du about it it's in there.

So the choices are he either lied about knowing what it was or he's too stupid to know what a tattoo he had on chest for almost 20 years was, which I find unlikely.
