and we have had a rash of thieves literally cutting cables for the copper.

Some idiots cut the cable for our (livestream) Portal -

They eventually fixed it, tried it out at a couple alternate locations, giving it a little parade to each spot, and it is now supposedly in City Hall Courtyard here.
