It’s so interesting and begins to help explain why so many of my interns over the last decade-plus can’t write well. They turn in drafts that are just word salad, like they don’t understand that when you write you’re supposed to be communicating something (and doing so effectively and persuasively in my line of work). If you’re not a good reader, you can’t be a good writer. Maybe you don’t know that writing is supposed to make sense because when you read, it doesn’t.
