I am not convinced that forever grudges strengthen our position. I think we have to welcome those who have “seen the light” whether a MAGA voter who learns to regret the vote or a company that saw its market cap fall precipitously. If there are no benefits to “seeing the light,” we eliminate the incentive to do so. It’s not really about grace or forgiveness per se—though the religious among us may call it that—it is about expanding the coalition of those who are willing to oppose authoritarianism, even if it took a while for them to get there.
