That message has one purpose. To tell us "opposition is futile -- go back to bed America."

That vote is more than symbolic. His power is waning. Members of the House are undoubtedly panicking that they will be forced to vote on the hated tariffs.

It also sends a signal to Roberts and Coney Barrett as the Supreme Court takes up the constitutionality of the tariffs. It may not make a difference, but never say never. As everything Trump has done gets more wildly unpopular, those two could be getting increasingly preoccupied about their "legacy." The other traitorous four have no such qualms, but I suspect Roberts and/or Coney Barrett don't relish the notion of being forever branded a black-robed traitor to the constitution.

Sure, the felon can veto the bill if the house follows suit, but that will be one more act that pisses people off.

The vote DOES have meaningful consequences.
