"Burr’s private life was defined by the following key realities:
The Long-Term Partner: Behind the scenes, Burr was in a loving, dedicated relationship with actor and producer Robert Benevides. The couple met on the set of Perry Mason in 1960 and remained together for over 30 years until Burr’s death in 1993.
Life Together: The two men shared a quiet domestic life, residing on a private island purchased by Burr where they cultivated and grew orchids together. Later in life, they relocated to California and started a vineyard.
The "Glass Closet": Like many leading men of his time, Burr was forced to balance immense public fame with the "glass closet". While he was widely known as a gay man within his inner circle and among crew members, he went to great lengths to perpetuate public myths to protect his television career from prejudice and boycotts."

Same goes for Rock Hudson.
