PM Update: It's a beautiful evening, then temperatures turn hot this weekend. [View all]

Showers and storms that developed in the midday mostly impacted places near and east of Interstate 95. The early storminess, plus the cloudiness associated with it, helped keep temperatures from getting past the low 80s for highs. Hope you savored it, as it’s going to be a while until afternoon temperatures are that low again. We’ve got a heat wave on the way.

Through Tonight: Skies are mainly clear this evening and much of the night. Evening readings fall through the 70s and into the upper 60s. Humidity tails off slowly. All in all, pretty comfortable. Lows are in the mid- and upper 60s. Winds are light and variable.

Tomorrow (Saturday): Temperatures rise compared to today and sunshine is plentiful. Highs are largely in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Winds from the west turn to come from the south by late day, sustained around 10 mph with higher gusts. Humidity is down a bit.

Sunday: Starting at morning lows in the mid-60s to near 70, readings are off to the races under sunny skies. Temperatures are up again, with highs mainly in the low and mid-90s. Humidity is also up somewhat, so heat indexes in the upper 90s are possible.
