1. "Hard right" in Chile means Pinochet style government and crony capitalism.

The “disappearance” (murders) of thousands of protestors, academics, writers, etc. The plundering of state coffers by connected cronies. The subjugation (by “law enforcement”) of the general population.

Last time a left-wing candidate won there, we aided and funded the Pinochet takeover.
